
This simple tart looks impressive but uses just a few ingredients. It’s perfect for learning careful slicing and arranging fruit in a beautiful pattern.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry
- 2 apples
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tbsp melted butter or a little apricot jam to glaze
Method
- Heat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Lay the puff pastry on a baking tray.
- Peel the apples if you like, then slice them thinly with your kids’ knife.
- Arrange the apple slices on the pastry in rows or a circle.
- Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Brush lightly with melted butter (or a little warmed apricot jam for shine).
- Bake for 15–20 minutes until the pastry puffs and the apples turn golden.
- Let it cool slightly, then slice and enjoy your homemade tart.
